I am having a similar problem to what Mike described (and what Josh described under the subject 'Installing Help'). I have installed visual studio .net 2003 enterprise and have installed the MSDN Library. However, when I try to activate help by placing the curson on an object I want to learn about and hit 'F1' I get the following error message
Help Is Not Installed for Visual Studi
Help is not installed for Visual Studio
The MSDN Library contains the Help documentation for all of the products in Visual Studio .NET. To use F1 Help, as well as the table of contents and other documentation features, you must install Help
To install Help
In Control Panel, choose Add/Remove Programs.
Select the appropriate product and then choose Change/Remove.
On the main setup screen, click Step 3.
—or—
Insert your MSDN CD and run MSDN setup.
I have tried to reinstall the MSDN Library several times to no avail. If I try to activate help via the help menu I get a pop-up window stating
Help is not available for Visual Studio .Net because MSDN Library, which provides Help for Visual Studio, is not installed
When MSDN is not installed, Help is not available from the index, search, table of contents, F1, or Help buttons in the user interface
However, inspite of the pop-up window - a search window is opened and I am able to search for help. Help does work, I can search for "String" and get a boatload of results - but for some reason Visual Studio doesn't recognize that the MSDN Library has been installed. It is mostly an inconvenience - I am still able to search for help, but I would really like to get the dynamic help (F1) working - and I would like to get rid of the annoying pop-ups every time I try to use help. Do you have any ideas???
