It gives me the message:

"Please go to the control panel to install and configure
system components."

and then setup disappears.  I cannot get past this part...

I know VS2003 runs on Windows 2003 normally.  I just
can't get it to go on this box...

Thanks,

chris

Chris,

There is a way to get around it but it may (or may not)
work correctly. I have been getting the same message on
one of my machines where I am trying to install the
Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services which requires
Visual Studio.Net 2003. Here is the "switch" you can try;

N:\setup\setupexe /NO_BSLN_CHECK

Where N is the drive letter of your media. This will
bypass the pre-req check and install Visual Studio.Net
2003. However I am still having a problem because when I
try to run the Install for Reporting Services
(which "snaps in" to VS.Net) I am seeing the "Please go
to Control Panel..." message. What a pain! Could someone
from Microsoft shed some light on this isse? I have the
Application Role set in my Windows 2003 Server with
ASP.NET, IIS 6 and FrontPage 2002 Server Extentions but
still no go.

Well that got me past the prereqs but I now get that same
message when trying to install the main product bits...

There is very little information on this error anywhere...
