Hi,
I have been unable to install VS2008 to my laptop, using the MSDN DVD Disc
4400. I used this exact same disk to install to a different machine (a
desktop), both of which are running XP sp2 and have SqlServer 2005 Developer
Edition installed. I suspected the laptop of corruption from years of use, so
I reformatted Drive C, reinstalled WinXp sp2 and SqlServer, and tried doing a
clean install. In all cases, it gets to the point where it is unable to
install the Microsoft Visual Studio Web Authoring Component.
I tried empyting the System Temp folder and also doing a clean boot using
msconfig.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

I have much better success with my MSDN DVDs if I copy their entire contents
onto a folder called Disk1 on my C:\ drive and install from there.

That solved the problem.
