I just reinstalled VS 2005 on my laptop and imported  the VS settings from my
desktop to my laptop.  However, when I click on "Build" on the main VS menu
on the desktop, it includes options such as 'Rebuild Solution', 'Clean
Solution', 'Configuration Manager', and some other options that do not appear
on the same menu in the laptop.  On the laptop, under Tools-Options-Projects
and Solutions-General, 'Show advanced build configurations' is clicked.  How
do I get the newly installed VS on my laptop to show all the menu options
that show up on my desktop???

What settings did you select the first time you ran VS after the reinstall?
Try this, it may help...

Tools->Import and Export Settings...

In the Import and Export Settings Wizard, follow the prompts to where you
can select settings, then choose General Development Settings.

Thanks for PvdG42's informative inputs.

Hi Ed,

For the settings, I think you can also try temporarily reset it to the
default one to see whether those menu items will appear. In addition, you
can also manually add those menu item/commands back to the "build" menu
through the following steps:

** choose "Tools---> Customize...." menu

** In the popup dialog, locate the "build" category in the left ListPanel

** Then, in the right panel, you can find all the available commands
belongs to the "build" category and you can push on one and drag it onto
the "build" menu.

Hope this also helps.

Sincerely,

Steven Cheng
