When using update.microsoft.com to install VS 2005 - SP1 for VS2005 pro I got a failure notice: Installation Failure Error Code: 0x800B0003 Try to install the update again, or request help from one of the following resources. How to get additional info to understand and solve the issue? Both links (URLs) to FAQ and for Support where generic; so no help, or KB related to this Error Code. Have seen several other posts out there with the same problem but can't find anyone who knows the solution. The suggested method of manually downloading and installing worked for me as well. It failed for me as well, so I downloaded the kit, attempted the install and it still failed. VS2005 no longer compiles projects that worked before, so I attempted to reinstall the kit, assuming that something was munged. That fails. All I get now is: [04/13/07,08:35:57] Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0: [2] Setup Failed on component Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 [04/13/07,08:41:59] Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition - ENU: [2] ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND/ERROR_INSTALL_PACKAGE_OPEN_FAILED returned in CRootComponent::Install for: C:\WINDOWS\Installer\3cf1f52.msi I cannot uininstall 2005, reinstall 2005 or update a component. Damn.
