Hello
Trying to install VS2005, either from  MSDN CDs or from a HD copy of them:
at about 50% of "setup is loading installation components" I get a message
"A problem has been encountered while loading the setup componentes.
Cancelling setup". No other messages.

Win XP Pro SP2
VS 2003 installed
SQL Express beta was installed, but was removed . vs_uninst_betas was run
before installation. Machine was rebooted after.

Problem appears trying to install either VS 2005 Team Edition or VS2005
Professional Edition

Have you got any work-around to the problem mentioned. I am also facing the same problems.

Please reply.

I've just faced with the same problem.

Tried to install from DVD and HD copy of it.
I had installed VS2005 successfully to Windows XP SP2 from the same disk before.

Now I have
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition SP1
VS 2003 installed
MS SQL Server 2000

Has anyone sorted out this problem yet?

After removing antivirus software from my system VS2005 was installed without any problems.

I had Kaspersky antivirus. It was necessary to remove it from the system, not to just disable.
I had no problems with installing VS2005 when I had McAfee...

I was having the same problem... my solution

Feeling utterly stupid... I checked the properties of the files... yup you
guessed it... the cd burning software had set them ALL to READ ONLY..... i
reset the attributes and it worked like a charm.
