I have installed VS.NET 2003 on other computers, including Windows XP Pro
(SP1). Recently my old development computer died so I purchased a new
HP laptop computer. It came with Windows XP Pro (SP2). I can not get VS.NET
2003 to install on this computer. It goes through the process, then reports a
failure. The error file and log file it offers are blank.
I noticed that the KEY automatically entered is different than the
one displayed on my MSDN introduction screen. Have no idea if this has any
bearing on the problem.
Any Thoughts??

I found that the Windows Installer was not running and had to be fixed.
I reinstalled the Windows Installer 3.1 (v2).
Then I found article #324516 which described how to correct the settings in
the registry for the Windows Installer. Below is the link for the article.
