Visual Studio 2005 Package Load Failure

After jumping through flaming hoops, I've managed to get Visual Studio 2005
Team Addition for Developers to install. But when I run it, I now get the
following errors:

Five times on startup:
Package Load Failure
Package ‘Visual Studio Common IDE Package’ has failed to load properly (GUID
= {6E87CFAD-6C05-4ADF-9CD7-3B7943875V7C} ). Pleas contact vendor for
assistance. Application restart is recommended, due to possible environment
corruption. Would you like to disable loading this package in the future? You
may use ‘devenv/resetskippkgs’ to re-enable package loading. YES NO

Twice on startup:
Package Load Failure
Package
‘Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.TestCaseManagement.QualityToolsPackage,
Microsoft.VisualStudio.QualityTools.TestCaseManagement, Version=8.0.0.0,
Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f57f11d50a3a’ has failed to load
properly (GUID = {A9405AE6-9AC6-4F0E-7AFE45F6FCB7} ). Pleas contact vendor
for assistance. Application restart is recommended, due to possible
environment corruption. Would you like to disable loading this package in the
future? You may use ‘devenv/resetskippkgs’ to re-enable package loading. YES
NO

If I choose to disable loading of the package, it renders VS completely
useless as one might guess.

When I exit the program, I receive above error again twice and Visual Studio
connects to Microsoft to report the problem.

I went ahead and re-installed VS, choosing the repair option. Same thing.

Ideas?

More info. I carefully uninstalled VS 2005 team addition and all other
related programs (Office Tools, SQL2005, MSMXL etc.) in the correct order
according to MS instructions. Reinstalled VS again...  Same thing. Now what?

I have the same problem when starting the help system,  'How do I do ?'.
I've reinstalled VS2005 5 times and the last time I cleaned my registry and
deleted all old cataloges. Still I get this message.

I even get the same message when I start the SQL2005 help system.

Any ideas ?

Best Regards

From your description, you get Packages loading Failures for Microsoft.VisualStudio.QualityTools.TestCaseManagement.* when launching the VS IDE. This will occur if
you uncheck the Team Foundation Client feature in the setup tree.  you may fix it by re-running setup and adding the Team Foundation Client feature.

Please let me know if my answer helps you resolve the problem. If there is anything more I can assist you, please feel free to let me know.

Thanks,

So far, I have been performing default installations, which include most
everthing, but just for completeness, I went ahead and reinstalled everthing.
There is no Team Foundation Client feature in the setup tree, and I am not
using Team Foundation Server.

I sure hope that MSFT is getting the message that the install program is
completely inadequate. This is turning into one expensive headache for me.

Thank you for this information.
And I am not sure what  "Visual Studio 2005 Team Addition for Developers" you refered to. Is it "Visual Studio 2005 Team
Edition for Software Developers"  or "Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Software Developers"? If it is VSTD, this problem
can also be caused by incompletely un-installation of beta or ctp version, so could you try using following tool to remove
betas or ctp version and reinstall VSTD them.
The tool can be found at: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=47598

Ran the tool and it fails with the following:

Tool failed to uninstall some components. Please verify that you have full
administrative priveleges, reboot your machine and try to run this tool
again.

And of course I'm admin and I've tried this tool many times. This is my last
post to this thread. I am going to jump on one of the new threads with
similar problems.

I did but MSDN didn't integrate with 2005. Any efforts afterword was in vain.
