VS.NET 2005 Installation Problem

I'm trying to install the RTM version of VS.NET, and I can't get it to
work.  I've tried pretty much everything I can think of, including the
hints at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q319714, but
when the progress bar is full during the "Microsoft .NET Framework
2.0" step, the install hangs and never goes any further.  I can't even
cancel the install at this point, since the cancel says it will finish
the current step first, and that never happens.  I've even tried this
after a clean boot, and after stopping all non-Microsoft services, but
with no luck.  I've also tried waiting several hours, but....

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Brad.

P.S.  Now that MS has dropped the ".NET" from VS, which of the two
groups I posted to is the right one?

I've tried both my news reader, newsgroups (at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/newsgroups), and Google, and can't find the
thread you're referring to.  Could you please post a link or
something?

Thanks!
Brad.
