I have been trying to install Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2 and keep getting
errors. I have a new PC with Windows XP Professional and it does have Visual
Studio 2003 installed. When trying to install VS 2005 Beta 2, the first two
parts of the setup (MS .NET Framework 2.0 Beta 2 and MSXML 6.0 Parser)
installed without error but the next part, Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2, failed.
The first error I received was "Error 1335. The cabinet file
'_801_RTL_x86_enu_Report_Designer_Component.cab' required for this
installation is corrupt and could not be used. This could indicate a network
error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package."
Clicking Retry gives the same error. Clicking Ignore gives the following
error "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this
package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is
2350."
I have tried a second DVD that I have. I have tried a coworker's DVD which
installed successfully on two other coworker's PCs. I have tried installing
while logged on to the network and while logged on as administrator on the
local machine. I have tried installing after 'clean' boots with non-MS
services stopped. I have tried installing after stopping every service that
I could stop. In ALL my attempts to install this, I get the 1335 error
above, though I have gotten it with several different files listed as
corrupt. Those file names are as follows:
_22_RTL_x86_enu_Core_IDE_OLB_Files.cab
_172_RTL_x86_enu_CRT_Sources_Intel_mt_objs.cab
_260_RTL_x86_enu_VS_Debug_MSPDB.cab
Can someone please give me a solution so I can get this installed
successfully?
Thanks.

UPDATE on my post: I found a MS TechNet article
(http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;318945) that
suggested that such corrupt cab file errors could be corrected by installing
a new DVD driver. A new driver was installed but I still got the same error
when installing Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2. So a new DVD drive was installed
in my PC and, finally, the Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2 installed successfully.
