Anyone ?

Is there really anyway to install Visual Studio 6.0 Enterprise SP 5 with
VS.NET 2003 on one machine without having problems with either VS 6 or
office products or even VS.NET functionality.  I've read posts in this news
group and different news groups that detail a variety of different problems
associated with having both development systems on one computer.  Does it
really just not work ?

My take on this is that you really need 2 PC's.  One with VS 6 and one with
VS.NET.

Hello Dave,
Actually I have both installed on my working machine, and they work fine.
To install both of them on one machine, you need to install vs6 first and then vsnet2003; and if you are programming with
vc++ and want to use cmd line, you also need to modify environment variable Path to add vsnet 2003 vc bin path.
You can try it first. If you meet any problem, please feel free to post it here, and I will assist you on specific issue.

Best regards,

Thanks, I'm still considering what approach I'm going to take.  We have a
lot of VB6 and VC++ code to support developed on Visual Studio 6.  We are
obviously behind the curve a bit on development platforms, but it's tough to
move to other platforms when the previous one worked so well.

For VC++, so far I did not meet any problems in my working environment.  To support the new platforms, I suggest you download the newest SDK from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=A55B6B43-E24F-4EA3-A93E
-40C0EC4F68E5&displaylang=en
, and then set the include the lib folder through
Tool -> Option -> Directories.
If you are using ATL or MFC, I remember there are some compiler compatible problems. If you are cross with them, don't worry, just post your problem with detail to vc.mfc
or vc.atl newsgroups, and we will assist you for more information.

Thanks,

Greetings Rhett,

Our company is making the transformation from Classic ASP to ASP.NET.
Recently, I've install VSNET2003 on my development machine using our
subscription CDs. Now, InterDev gives a windows error when loaded. I wish I
could provide more error information than that.

I've uninstalled .NET but still no avail. Ever hear of this?

Josh

Is that error "DLL initialization routine failed"?

Nope. It's that "Windows has encountered a serious error and ... Would you
like to send this error to Microsoft?" error.
