Visual Studio .NET Uninstall Problem

I've got Visual Studio .NET 2002 and 2003 installed on my computer.  I
installed these a couple of years ago.  I tried to uninstall them using
'add/remove programs'.  The uninstallation starts, but hangs midway through
the process.  I have to kill the msiexec's from the task manager to exit the
uninstall.

I found an article on manual uninstallation and followed that procedure too
with the same results.  I also tried to uninstall with my enterprise DVDs.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?  Is there a more crude way to
uninstall?

Hello,
Could you let me know what version you uninstalled it first? And what error it reports in the midway?

Thanks,

I believe I tried to uninstall the 2002 version first.  There is no error
message that is presented, it just uninstalls forever.  The same occurs
attempting to uninstall 2003.  I have to kill the msiexec(s) to exit.  I
tried to re-install the 2003 version.  The install hangs (same as the
uninstall) when it is attempting to install the prerequisite ".NET Framework
1.1".  Hope this helps some.

Thanks very much for your reply.   If we can't remove it through "Add/remove program", I suggest you remove them manually.
Here are two kb articles on how to remove vsnet2002/2003 and their components.

Please follow the steps and let me know if it could resolve your problem.

As I mentioned in the second part of my original question, I already tried to
uninstall .NET manually using the instructions you mentioned and got the same
results - the uninstall still hangs.

In the article, it uses Microsoft Windows Installer to cleanup the cache and uses MSIZap.exe to cleanup the registry. The article provides11 steps to remove vsnet2003,
when you say "the uninstall still hangs.", could you let me know which steps the hangs occur?
