Installing .Net 2003 hangs

Hi,

I am (and have been for many months) trying to get VS .Net 2003 Architect
installed on my XP Professional PC.  It always hangs while installing the
prerequisites - specifically the .Net Framework.  I have used msconfig to
start the system without any virus checkers and firewalls, but still get the
same problem.

When running the Dotnetfix.exe file directly from the CD (as recommended in
a support page), I did notice that the system hung while trying to stop the
IISADMIN process.

Any help would be appreciated.

Pete,

I noticed that you were using msconfig, but not sure how you were using it.
Here are the steps that I use in order to get things to work.

Launch MSConfig
Select the Services Tab
Select Disable All
in the first column, locate and check Windows Installer
click Ok
Reboot when prompted
Install VSNet.

Let me know if this works for you!

Cheers,

Thanks, Tom. I followed the steps in the body of your message. Still
get the MSI commandline parameters dialog. Looks like I get to do the
long way (sigh). I can't wait to see what this does to all my Add-ins
(Together, Deklarit, etc.).

Thanks Tim,

following these instructions enabled me to install .Net at last!  Thanks
very much.
