I have installed VSTO 2005 on top of "Visual Studio 2005 Pro" and have
only access to "Add-in" projects for Office.
Is there a way to have access to Office (Word, Excel,...) Projects from
"Visual Studio 2005 Pro" ?
I have read that this can only work with "Visual Studio 2005 Team"
editions.

Can anybody confirm or give me a way to enable the missing projects ?

Thanks a lot.

Hello,

This page might highlights the VSTO projects that you can use based on the
products you have installed
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa942839(VS.80).aspx.

The stand alone version of VSTO 2005 should give you document-level projects
for word and excel as well as a project for creating Outlook add-ins. If you
install VSTO 2005 SE on top of Visual Studio 2005 Pro, you should get access
to several add-in project templates (Word, Excel, Outlook etc). However you
would not have access to document-level projects.

Hi Norm,

Thanks a lot for your answer.
It gives me a hope to have more than just "add-ins".

Actualy, I have problems to find the stand alone version of VSTO 2005.
The only reference I can find on MS website is the one to VSTO 2005 SE:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=5E86CAB3-6FD6-4955-B979
-E1676DB6B3CB&displaylang=en

As far as I know, VSTO 2005 SE was created to include Office 2007
projects (what I need).
Do you know if the stand alone version also include Office 2007
projects or only Office 2003 ones ?

Thanks in advance.
Regards,

Stephane

Hi Stephane,

The stand alone version of VSTO 2005 (Visual Studio 2005 Tools for the
Microsoft Office System) does not include projects for Office 2007.  It only
has projects for Office 2003.  You can install VSTO 2005 SE on top of VSTO
2005 and get project templates for creating Office 2007 application-level
add-ins.  You still will not get any Office 2007 document-level customization
projects.
Office 2007 document-level customization project templates will be available
in the next version of Visual Studio.

According to the VSTO 2005 SE download page, you can download and install
VSTO 2005 SE on top of any of the following products:

- Visual Studio 2005 Professional*
- Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite
- Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Software Architects
- Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Software Developers
- Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Software Testers
- Visual Studio 2005 Tools for the Microsoft Office System

If you only need support for Office 2007 application-level add-in projects,
consider Visual Studio 2005 Professional as a base product.  If you want to
use VSTO 2005 Tools for the Microsoft Office System as a base product, you
can find more information about it at
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/vstudio/aa700832.aspx.

Does this help.
