I would like to use Visual Studio 2005 to edit some VHDL files. Is there a
way to customize the IDE's properties for how it parses file content?
For example, how to tell the IDE to treat lines beginning with "--" instead
of "//" as a comment line?
Thanks,
Dave

Hello Dave,
If you just want to edit VHDL file, I'd like to suggest you may try other
3rd party VHDL editors.
VHDL is not native supported in VS 2005. Thereby, VS IDE hasn't built-in
VHDL Editor. We cannot customize the IDE properties to parses VHDL content,
either.
What we can do is to develop a VSPackage to provide language-specific
support for editing source code in IDE. You may refer to the following
documents.

Service Wizard]
Hope this helps. Please feel free to let me know you have any more concern.
We are glad to assist you.
Have a great day,
Best regards,
