As my project grows in size, I am finding that the Solution Explorer file
list becomes unwieldy. I think there should be a "collapse" option somewhere,
just as there is for Windows, but I cannot find it.

In Vista, this is a right-click on the directory, followed by "collapse" on
the popup menu.

The Solution Explorer presents items in a tree view. You can collapse any
branch of this tree view that you want. I don't understand the problem
you've described, because you SHOULD be able to do what you want.

Working with VB, select "nest related files" and the ASPX.VB files are nicely
collapsed underneath the main ASPX file.

Click "nest related files" again, and then they are listed "flat".

Click again to nest, and I now have 100+ ASPX files, with the ASPX.VB files
indented, with the tree option (-) to collapse each file.

There should be a way to "collapse all", as with any tree view, but I cannot
find it, and that is my question: how do I make all the (-) collapse into (+)
without clicking 100+ buttons?

I am wearing out my mouse-wheel scrolling up and down through the "doubled"
list.

AHA! It would have been helpful had you mentioned that in the original post.
I rarely use VB.NET, so I'm afraid I can't help you any further.
