I need to create a shortcut on the desktop but the shortcut's target is a
file that is on one of our servers, not a file that is part of the project.
Is it possible to do this, and if so how, I am having no luck.

Thanks

I don't know why you are having trouble or how you are doing it.  I know
that I can right click on the desktop, create a new shortcut, and paste a
link to a folder on a server, so I see no reason why it can't be done in an
add-in, assuming the folder exists (it has to exiist b/c the create tool
checks it).

Here is a link to an article I wrote on creating a shortcut, just in case
there is something wrong with the way you are doing it.

I am not saying that you are doing it wrong, just an article on how I did it.
