Hi,

When I'm trying to create a project template, the MSDN doc tells me that
there is a menu item called "Export Template" in the File menu which can
activate the Export Template wizard. But I just can't find the menu, what
step do I miss?

Thanks.

Daniel

Hello Daniel,

I'm not sure which version of Visual Studio you are playing with. I assume
it is VS 2005. If I misunderstand here, please kindly correct me. Thanks.

The MSDN document is correct. I could found the "Export Template" in File
Menu on my side.

In order to narrow down the issue, would you please follow the steps as
below?
1)Create a new project
2)Select Visual C# as "Project types" in the left panel and select Windows
Application as "Templates" in right panel.
3)Type "MyWindowsApplcationTemplate01" in the Name textbox.
4)Click "OK" button.
So far, VS 2005 will create new windows application according to the
template.
5)Click the File Menu

You should notice there are about 15 items in File menu.
New
Open
Add
Close
Close Solution,
Save MyWindowsApplcationTemplate01
Save MyWindowsApplcationTemplate01 as
Save All
* Export Template
Source Control
Page Setup
Print
Recent File
Recent Projects
Exit

Please check if there is "Export Template" between "Save All" and "Source
Control" item.

If it is not present, please add it through the IDE Options.
This can be accomplished by
1) Click "Tools-->Customize..." and then the "Commands" tab.
2) Click on the "File" item on the left panel, then click the "Rearrange
Commands" button at the bottom.
3) Click the "Add" button at the top right, and then click on "File" again
in the categories list, and "Export Template" in the Commands list.
4) Place the command right above the "Source Control" menu option.

Hope this helps.
Sincerely,
Wen Yuan
