The Concierge service wasn't much help. She said to post question here.

On VS2005 IDE's Main Menu select Tools + Options + Text Editor + File
Extension & the Editor dropdown box. There are about 20+ different "Editor"
settings to choose from, such as "User Control Editor", "Web form editor",
"web service editor" and "script editor" to name only a few . I cannot find
documentation nor even descriptions of those 20+ settings.

Does documentation exist?

The Concierge is there to help you with your MSDN subscription, not for
specific questions about products, FWIW.
The setting for file extension are to allow you to, optionally, designate
which editor features you wish to apply when/if you add a file to a project
that has no extension with the file name. The list is simply the available
editor features for different document types.
