Hi,
I downloaded these samples (subject line) and when I double-click (or
right-click & choose "open with") on the .sln file, VS2005 won't launch.
When I hover the mouse over the .sln file in IE, the pop-up window indicates
"unrecognized version".

I found this suggestion,
http://msdn.microsoft.com/newsgroups/managed/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.vc
.ide_general&mid=cc3123d0-493d-412f-b5dc-1ae7aaa4b73c&sloc=en-us
,
which worked but the .sln file remained unaltered -  I still could not open
open it by double-clicking or "right-click->open with".

Short of creating a new project and porting the existing files into it, is
there any way to correct this issue?

Thanks.

Change the file extension settings in Windows Explorer to open sln files
using devenv instead of vslauncher.
