IDE crashes when editing dialogs, UI

My Visual Studio 2005 IDE crashes whenever I edit an MFC (unmanaged C++)
dialog or other UI.
I have the opportunity to debug and I see the exception seems to happen in a
GdiPlus.dll. Any ideas?

No bites yet, eh?
This is a real pain and the IDE completely shuts down - often without any
chance to report the error.
