I am using VS.NET 2005 - when I modify a form and press F5 to compile and
run, it doesn't compile the changes I have just made! I have to do a rebuild
all the time.

Does anyone know whats going on?

This problem has only started since I copied this project from another
machine.

Any help much appreciated...

It would be helpful to know what project type and template you are using,
but in general I've found that removing Debug and/or Release folders from a
moved project, then building the entire solution often eliminates issues
such as the one you describe.

I have removed debug and release, rebuild the project and then put garbage
into my source file and it still runs when I press F5 indicating that it's
not compiling the change.

I am using Windows Forms C#

Hi Mark,

First of all, I'd like to confirm my understanding of this issue.
According to your description, VS 2005 doesn't compile the changes you have
made until the project has been rebuilt.
If I misunderstood anything here, please don't hesitate to correct me.

I'm afraid that your project hasn't been set to build in "Configuration
Manager".
To accomplish this, you can follow the steps as below.

1. Select your Solution and then right click
2. Select "Configuration Manager" from the list
3. You should check whether all the checkboxes below "Build" have been
checked.

If the problem is not resolved or if anything is unclear,
Please feel free to post in the newsgroup and we will follow up.

Thank you very much for this tip! I hope Mark finds it as helpful as I did.

Yes this has fixed the problem, thanks...

It would be interesting to know how this checkbox got unticked.

Possible mistake, but maybe not...
I'm sorry I am not sure...

But if there is any issue not resolved, please feel free to contact me.
I'm glad to work with you.
Sincerely,
WenYuan

I experienced the same problem and WenYuan's post pointed me in the right
direction.

When I went to check the checkbox I noticed that the checkbox was not
checked for Debug|Win32 (the settings I was currently using). However when I
checked settings for other platforms (specifically Any CPU) I noticed that
the checkbox was checked.

It makes me suspicious that when the project was created it was setup with
Debug|Any CPU checked and Release|Any CPU checked but nothing checked for
Debug|Win32 or Release|Win32.
