When I create a Distributed System project, I can drop any type of
"Application" on the design surface and it works except "ASP.NET WebService"
or "ASP.NETWeb Application".  Both of these complain:

'Could not load file or assembly "System.Runtime.Serialization,
Version=3.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicToken=XXX" or one of its dependencies'

The 3.0.0.0 leads me to believe that an errant part of an old WinFX (.NET
3.0) installation somewhere.  I uninstalled VS 2005, deleted the entire
directory and re-installed it.  Still does it.  Anyone know where I might
find a solution?

Apart from the VS folder, there are other .NET-related folders:

C:\Windows\Assembly (the GAC)

C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework (the .NET Framework)

and some registry entries.

So you may want to uninstall the VS 2005 and the .NET Framework(s), ensure
that those folders are deleted and restart the reinstallation of everything.
