Does this problem only occur at your home?
I suggest you can check your Windows' application event log or use the
filemon(http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Filemon.html) to find more
detailed information about this issue. The error message does not provide
more useful info about the problem.

I sent a response, but it apparently didn't make it.
The problem was Tenebril's SpyCatcher. When I removed it, BIDS worked, when
I put it back on, it didn't.
