Yes it is possible , but itmileage may vary on depending on your version of
DB2.
Right now I'm working with V5R2 of DB2. IN the VS2005 server explorer I can
make a new connection through odbc to the DB2 server and library.
Then I can see the tables, views and stored procedures.
and look at the data (tables and vies), but not design.
I do not see the user functions I created with iSeries Navigator.
Maybe this has to do with the fact that it is V5R2 and only ODBC is supported.
It gets worse when you try to use the dataset designer: update, insert
statements are only generating code on the primary key not on other fields

Supposedly there's a DB2 .NET managed provider available, but I can't find
it anywhere.
Do you (or anyone else) know where it can be downloaded from?
Thanks, RD

I cannot use it myself because no support for V5R2.
Redbook that contains links to download sites (at last pages of the books)

Mystery solved; the DB2 managed provider for .NET is installed at the time
DB2 itself is installed, but only if the .NET Framework is already present.
The solution in this case was to catalog all the databases, uninstall DB2,
reinstall it, and then add back all the databases. Afterwards, the DB2
Add-In worked fine.
Now, if only I could find a way to have dot-SQL files treated as DB2 files
instead of SQL Server ones.
