Hi,

Back in 2002 with .NET first version, VSA was announced as a managed
replacement for VBA - essentially one that would understand the managed
object model.

My question is whether in VS 2005 we have this already as a real tool we may
use and whether it comes with Team Edition VS 2005 for Developers.

Thanks in advance,

In .NET Framework 2.0, we already present the Microsoft.Vsa namespace which
contains interfaces that allow you to integrate Script for the.NET
Framework script engines into applications, and to compile and execute code
at run time:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.vsa.aspx

But its applicability may be limited, some of the technology developed for
VSA is incorporated within the new VSTA.  VSTA application customization
would take better advantage of rich client functionality than VSA, offering
a highly optimized environment for application customization on both the
client and the server.

VSTA licensing will soon be available through the Visual Studio Industry
Partner Program (VSIP). For more information, please contact VSTA
Information at vstatrin@microsoft.com or visit
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/extend/vsipoverview/.

Please refer to the following blog article for further information:

Howdy! What's up with VSA?

Thanks!
