Hi,

My problem is that suddenly I cannot right-click on a project in .NET Studio
2003 (any project, both C# or C++) and open the properties window. Nothing
happens. If I click on Project -> "my project" properties from the menu, the
IDE hangs and must be killed from the task manager.

It is hard to be more specific about this, because there is really no more
info to convey. Is there a log file somewhere that might have any
information? If there is any more information I can provide, that would help
find a solution to this, please let me know.

None of my co-workers have this problem (same setup, even same HW), and I
can't remember doing anything out of the ordinary. Suppose I must have...

I've tried to reinstall (uninstall/install) the Studio, to no avail. I
really don't want to reinstall the OS only to find it didn't help. As for
reproducability (is that a word?), I can't even begin to guess what the cause
is and since none of my collegues has this problem, I suppose there is no way
of reproduce.

I found a reference to a somewhat similar problem, but that was for 2005
Beta 2, and a null-reference pointer was involved and with no solution
supplied, so no help there.

Thanks,
Maja

The only suggestion I can offer is to let the "hung" process go for a
bit.  I had a problem that had the same symptoms with VS2003 and I
finally just got up and left it "hung".  After who knows how long, it
recovered and I never had the problem again.

It's probably just a superstition, but it's worth a try.  Do it before
you leave for lunch.

Hi Maja,

Besides Jason's workaround, I suggest you can also use the FIlemon and
Regmon utilities to monitor your VS2003 IDE while this problem occurs,
those tools could be accessed in the following web iste:
http://www.sysinternals.com/

Thanks!

Best regards,

Gary Chang
