There are a couple of tricks to getting docking via drag and drop to work.
Once you've got them down, it's a snap.
When you drag a window around keep an eye on the border that shows you where
the window will wind up. When you see the border "snap" to a different
shape, you have entered a spot that if you let go, the window will dock to
the main IDE in that size/position.
If you want a window to be docked so that it is "tabbed" next to another
window, drag the window until the tip of the mouse touches the title bar of
the window you want it to be tabbed next to. You'll see that border "snap"
to a shape that shows a tab at the bottom.
