I can't open an .aspx page in html view or the web.config file inside VS.Net
03 (Win XP Pro SP1, Office 03), it causes vs to crash and I can send or
don't send the error to MS.
This is a production asp.net app that needs changes now and I can't modify
any aspx pages.
Also whenever I right click on a html, .js, or other non cs or vb file, and
click
"Edit in Visual Studio .Net 2003", VS crashes and I get the opportunity to
Send or Don't Send the info to MS.
This is a fresh install in Win XP Pro SP1.
Also is there a way to see what the logs say when I do select "Send" the bug
to MS?  I really need to fix this.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Are you able to create new plain text file?
Are you able to create static HTML page?
Can you try on another machine?
Did you recently install VS 2005 or anything else that could change .NET
version?
Are you able to run IIS and access the web app via localhost?
Did you try to repair or reinstall VS?

Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply.  Below are my answers to your questions.
1. I am able to create a plain text file in VS and add text to it and save
it.
2. I am not able to create a new html page in VS.Net  What happens is, when
the Options (under tools) is set to view html pages in HTML view, once the
page opens and you see the default html, VS is frozen for a moment and then
crashes.  If it set to Design view, then its fine.  But once it changes to
html view then it crashes.  I also can't open the web.config or an
App.Config either.  Currently I edit them in notepad.
3. This is now happening on 2 freshly built boxes, both with WinXP Pro SP1.
When we both rebuilt our machines, the previous build was Win 2k Pro SP4.
One of the machines does have XmlSpy and almost all the apps from Office
2003 (like OneNote and other stuff).  But the other machine was built
yesterday morning, so all it has is the basic Office apps and VS 03, but
still crashes when opening the file types mentioned.
4. Neither machine ever had VS 05.
5. We are able to open a browser and browse to our local web app, .e.g.
http://localhost/Reports/default.aspx works fine.
6. We both spent the painstaking 1-2 hours to repair VS.Net and no go.
Still the crash

I think I'm going to have to spend a MSDN support incident, hopefully they
won't charge me 1 of the 4, seeing its not my code thats broken, its the
IDE.
Any other thoughts will greatly be appreciated.
Thanks
