BUG!  VS.Net is choking on directories starting with a '.'

We just started using Subversion (mainly because VSS is crappy and does not
scale much at all).  Unfortunantly, we have discovered that VS.Net is not so
happy with the change.  Actually what it is choking on is that each
directory in our source tree has a directory called .svn.  Turns out to have
nothing to do with Subversion, rather, VS.Net just starts to choke on any
directory that starts with a '.'!!!

This is a serious problem for us.  I'm see that it has been reported before.
Does anyone know if there is a hotfix or anything to address this issue in
VS.Net?

I use XP Home. I just tried creating a folder with a leading '.' and it wont
accept it. Looks like an OS limitation. You may of course have been able to
force the issue from a program but not read from or change to it.

It's not an OS limitation - but yes the Windows Explorer does have some
issues with files/folders that start with '.'.

However, that VS.Net has a problem with it creates a serious issue.  It
means it is incompatable with some 3rd party version control systems.
(Which is nearly a requirement give that VSS can't scale beyond about 3-5
gigs (MS's docs).  Ours was much larger before we were forced to switch
becuase we had so many problems with VSS.)

Can someone from MS tell me if a hotfix for VS.Net exists to address this
issue?

Have you tried renaming the folder so that it does not start with a "."?
