Visual Studio 2003 on .Net 2.0

Will I be able to run VS 2003 on .Net 2.0 and SQL 2005.

I understand I will not get all the features if I can but to make a long
story short, I need SQL and would rather not buy SQL 20005 unless I have to.

No. However, installing the .Net 2.0 patform has no effect on existing
installations of the prior platforms. It is a side-by-side install. No
problems here.
