hi

I have finally got the RTM version download, installed it and everytime I
run I just get the splash screen up for around 5 seconds then nothing .

Looking in the event log the following message is posted :

.NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.42 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (7C81EB33)
(800703e9)

Does anybody have a clue whats wrong,  or what I have done wrong.

SQL 2005 works fine, and I also have VS 2003 installed on my machine.

Any help would be gratefully recieved.

Thanks in advance

Jonathan

Did you have a previous version of VS.Net 2005 installed before this? If so,
did you read the readme file prior to installation? Did you follow all of
the detailed instructions regarding uninstalling previous versions? Did you
uninstall all of the components of any previous versions in the order
specified?

Hi Kevin

Thanks for the speedy response.

I did have and earlier version on this machine but this was uninstall ages
ago.  I probably did not do it in the correct order :(

Should I read install the old beta and follow the uninstall intructions .

Thanks again

Kindest Regards

Jonathan

IME, it applies to any prior version, beta, RC, CTP, whatever.
The RTM DVD will start up, then identify if you need to follow the uninstall
instructions (providing a link to the instructions). I recommend you do
exactly as instructed. On one PC I did what I'm recommending and all is
well. On a second PC where I'd uninstalled the RC myself (probably in the
wrong order), the RTM keeps finding leftover bits I can't seem to get rid
of. I'm now in the process of trying to reinstall the RC so I can uninstall
it according to the instructions.

Sorry, I've been away all day.

I've run into this problem before. What I did was to uninstall the new
version, perform all the tasks required to remove the old version, and then
reinstall the new version. Of course, I've been doing this every couple of
months for about a year, so I can't remember whether I ever had to reinstall
and then uninstall the old version at any time.

Once you follow the directions exactly, it should perform very very well. It
has for me, on 2 different machines. I should also mention that I'm still
using the RC at this point.
