IDE Unspecified Error; SourceSafe?

We have a solution with 9-12 projects, of which 2 is C#-Webprojects. The
solution is binded to sourcecontrol(Visual SourceSafe). App. 10 developers is
working on this solution.

Some while ago, we made some changes to the VSS-database, including
branching the main-source. Since then, we've experienced an annoying
errormessage on each "close solution". "Unspecified Error" - That's it,  very
descriptive.

I've not been able to find anything in ng's or google regarding this, except
the issue about paths to InstalledSCCProviders in the registry.

These issues occur on every install of VS.NET in the company, also fresh
ones. I suspected that the .sln file may be corrupt, but a brand new solution
with the same projects binded to the same VSS-database, produces the same
errors.

This is haunting me, as my entire group is on my back about it :-)

Anyone?

Besides this error, we occasionally get the "Some of the properties
associated with the solution could not be read" error message when we open
the solution in Visual Studio .NET 2003. This is not consistent, and the
resolution explained in
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;841707 does not help.

We're currently experiencing same symptoms. Not sure how they started.
Haven't found solution yet.

We've found the bug!

We had a .sou file that was binded to SourceSafe without being updated with
the latest change in the solution-file. When we made sure that the .sou file
from sourcecontrol was up to date, the problems disappeared.
