VS multiple users

Does Visual Studio installed on a single machine allow multiple users
to use it?

Investigating a problem I found earlier, I have now discovered that
only when I log in as a particular user can I create new projects.
Until now I have always been using VS under the account that I use to
install VS.  But if I log in (I am using XP Pro SP2) as another user,
even with Administrator privileges, I get the message "Automation
server can't create object" when I try to create a Windows form project
in C# or VB.  When I try to create a web project I get more error
messages referring to incompatibility between IIS on client and server,
followed by the "Automation server can't create object" error.  But
using my original account, I can create web projects OK.

This is a problem because I want to stop using the account I have been
using until now and shift over to another one.  All my other
applications (Office etc.) work OK, just VS is complaining.

Do I need to set something to register my new user account with Visual
Studio?

OK some more info - the error is to do with scripting?  So I tried from
a command prompt typing:

regsvr32 scrrun.dll

This returns an error DllRegisterServer in scrrun.dll failed and code
0x80004005.  On the advice of a KB article I looked up 0x80004005 in
winerror.h file that I found on the disk.  It is a code for
"Unspecified error".  Not very helpful!

What's going on, can anyone help?

Well I guess noone could help with this but in the end I solved it by doing
an upgrade reinstall of Windows XP. I found out that it was a general
problem with scripting on my system.  Other script functions were also
broken (unrelated to Visual Studio) such as "My Computer Info" in the Help
and Support section.  The reinstall has broken some other stuff, but at
least the scripting is working OK, at least for now.  Dissatisfying not to
know what the cause of the problem is, but WinXP is so complex that the
answer to many problems seems to be: just reinstall the offending module and
hope for the best!  So that's what I did!
