The company will be eventually deploying the applications created (both web
and Form) to perform full text searches on a SQL Server 2000 Database.  Will
the 2003 Professional Special edition get me there?  It says it includes all
the features and functionality of SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition but is
license-restricted from use in a live server environment.  Does that just
mean the SQL version isn't licensed?  We have our own licensed SQL Server
2000.  I just need a development tool that will utilize SQL Server on my PC
during design in order to develop and test full text indexing and stuff like
that.

By the way, they currently have Visual Basic .NET 2003 Standard, but they
don't believe it to have enough tools for development due to the MSDE
services offered and no full-text indexing.  Are we way off here?

There should be a feature comparison table at Microsoft's
web site. I think you may require the Professional Edition
but you should go look for that comparison table.

Thanks for the response! I have looked at those comparison tables.  The
Professional does not have an 'X' by compatible with SQL Server 2000 while
the Special Edition does.  I believe that the VS Professional 2003 Special
Edition will do the trick I guess I just don't want to buy the product and
then come to find out that full-text indexing or something isn't compatible
and we have to upgrade again.  Can anyone verify if the Special Edition
allows use of full text indexing?
