Dear All,

In a previous post I noticed that the Visual Studio.NET was a per user
license rather than a per pc license. This was true for 2003. Is it still the
case as I would like to work on projects at home as well as work?

Thanks again.

I think you'll find that Visual Studio (the stand alone product) is a
per device license.  What you may be misunderstanding is an MSDN
Subscription which is a per-user thing - it is 'owned' by a named
individual and can be used on multiple machines etc.

David,

That is a shame as the thought of uninstalling and reinstalling this
application, even for a short time from one pc to another is a thought and a
half. I sometimes work from home. Thanks again for your help.

I could be wrong - certainly some apps licenses are home/work aware -
but without checking the license directly, you can't be certain.

My point, which probably wasn't clear, was that often Visual Studio is
confused with MSDN - and MSDN is clear, that the license to use the
software included with MSDN is a named user license, and is not
restricted to any one machine, rather restricted to the MSDN
subscription holder (or others with the same subscription level).

What I probably should have made clearer, is that VS being a per-device
license is an assumption of mine - as opposed to definite fact.  It is
entirely possible that it is also a "per user" license.  I just don't know.
