Hello,

Visio keeps locking up on me when I try to perform a database update to
Oracle.

I am running

Visio for Enterprise Architects SP-2 (10.0.5110)

Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.2.0

I have created a brand new scheme in Oracle
Generated the Visio ERD to Oracle (works perfectly)
Made a single change to a column in Visio
Selected Database -> Update

Checked Update the database
Unchecked Detech changes in database
Pressed Next
Selected database connection and pressed Next
Login with the correct user account
The diagram will be checked for errors
Then the system will lockup and not do anything. I must run task manager and
end the process.

How can i get this fixed?

Thank you

Craig

Hello Craig,

After some research on this issue, I found few simlilar issues which is
related to Oracle client or its settings, and this kind of issue always be
machine specific. Is it possible for you to test it with SQL server or test
it with another computer?

Anyway, vsnet.enterprise.tools is not a proper group to discuss Visio
problems. I saw you have posted the same message to some Visio related
groups. Hope you are luck to have some Visio professionals help you there.

Hi Luke,

Thank you for your reply,

I just tested this with MSDE and I am getting the same lockup issue when
trying to update the database.

Hi Craig,

I try a sample test with a SQL server but I cannot reproduce the problem.
Have you update this information to MS Project group, maybe someone there
can help you on this issue.

Luke
