Does EIF work with MSDE?

Does Microsoft Enterprise Instrumentation framework (EIF) work with MSDE?

Im not too familiar with MSDE - but since you can use it with .NET
languages (e.g. see the article at
http://www.informit.com/articles/article.asp?p=26863&seqNum=1).
Consequently you can use if with an application instrumented with EIF. From
what I can see, MSDE is itself unmanaged code - so you cant instrument MSDE
with EIF.
