Screen scraping for error detection with ACT?

I am fairly new to ACT. I have two questions.

1) Most if not all of our web pages do not generate a separate error page
and HTTP error code. Mostly there is a message display to the user. For
example on the logon screen if the user enters the wrong username and/or
password a message is displayed indicating such and the user is given a
change to reenter the credentials. Now if I run ACT in "record" mode to login
it seems to work just fine. But if the users password has expired or the user
has been removed from the system and I am running ACT I will not get an error
based on the default VB that is generated from the recorded logon session.
How do I determine that an error has occured with ACT since I also don't see
the response? I was think that there might be some access to the control
where the message is displayed. Any suggestions?

2) I notice that it is possible to specify different user name and password
combinations. How do I incorporate these into my VB test script?

Thank you for your time.

Kevin

Is there a more appropriate group to ask ACT type of questions?
