Frustrated by the logging application block

Hi,

I'm trying to raise and error message event and would like it to be written
to the event log.

The error message is written in the event log but all the extra information
that should be published with an error event (e.g WindowsSecurityInfo,
ManagedSecurityInfo, ComPlusInfo etc) isn't written to the event log (the
values appear as null).

When I add traceSink to the filter then this extra information is written to
the trace log but not to the event log.

When trying to debug, stepping into the application block's code, I notice
that the extra information is included in the raised event.

When I tried this with EIF (without the application block) it worked fine
and the extra data was written to both the event log and trace log

Am I missing something or is this a limitation of the logging application
block?

Thanks in advance
Oran

I dont know the answer to the question below. But I do know that there was
a separate thread about logging block questions where the team the produced
the logging block (a different one from EIF) said:

For any feedback to this please send to devfdbck@microsoft.com.  We
(patterns & practices [1] )developed these extensions to EIF and would like
to here any feedback or help in anyways we can.

The title of the thread was "Please read for info on Logging Application
Block (Extensions to EIF)" from Scott Densmore (scottden@microsoft.com).

I suggest that you email them directly and tell them your opinion/question.
Perhaps you could post their reply?
Maybe you might like to suggest that they check this newsgroup and reply to
the logging block questions directly?

Sorry I couldnt be of more help

Mike
