Hi,

I have a Winapp developed using vb.net. I have a unique
requirement that I want the user to install this
application using web.

It looked simple. I created a virtual Directory and
copied the MSI file in the folder and then created a web
page with a link to the exe. It works fine.

App should be digitally signed and the web page should
not try to install the application when it is already
installed on his pc. ( Something like a Java Applet). But
If I build a new version, the user should be able to use
the web page to download the new version.

Can I use a Cab file to digitally sign and launch MSI
file compressed inside the Cab file ?
If it is possible could anybody tell me how to do it ? If
there is any other way to do it please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there

You should be able to digitially sign the MSI file if that helps remove a
level of indirection.
I know there is certainly tools to create self extracting cab files and
even self extracting (and run) cab files (probably zip as well).
However, I dont know the name of such the tools or if they are free.

I'd had a search on the web and see what you can find.
Sorry I couldnt be of more help

Mike
