Running VS2008 Team Suite.
Web Test Recorder was working fine until today. Now, when I add a new Web
Test to a test project, the .webtest file is opened and simply contains
"<TestCase LaunchRecorder="true" />". The recorder does not launch.
I noticed that my other machine (which still works fine) has a different
option when I right-click the .webtest file and choose "Open With". The good
machine is set to "Web Test Editor (default)". The bad machine is set to
"XML Editor (default)". The bad machine does not list "Web Test Editor" as
an option (even after reinstalling VS2008.
Help!
Hi dave,
As you mentioned, you've been using the VS 2008 webtest and recorder for
sometime, however, encountered problem to open webtest file with "web test
editor" now, correct?
By default the "Web Test Editor" should be listed in the "Open With..."
dialog in Visual Studio, for your scenario, if you originally get it
working, there must be something got corrupt. I suggest you try logon the
box through another account to see whether the problem specific to user
profile or temp cache.

You are correct. Logging onto my bad machine as a different user solved the
problem. How can I reset my User Profile/Cache?

Thanks for your reply Dave,
At least we've got that the problem related to user profile corruption.
Since the actual location of caching data is not documented, I would
suggest you try deleting the original problem user's user profile just like
the steps mentioned in the following blog entry:
