Hi,

We are trying to do a small beta test of our plugin for Whidbey. In order to
do so, we would require package load keys, right? However, at this time it
seems only PLKs for Everett are available. Is there some way to get a PLK
for the current beta2 of Whidbey? Or will we have to inform potential beta
testers that they will need to install the VSIP SDK first? I suspect the
answer is the latter, but I'm asking nonetheless. Thanks.

As far as I know the PLKs you can get on the VSIP web site work with all
versions of VS.  I just grabbed a PLK from
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/extend/ and it's working fine with Whidbey
for me.  No SDK installation is required on target machines.

Hi Parag,

Paul's opinion is right, you can use a single binary across the different
versions of VS .NET. All versions of Visual Studio.NET support the same
PLK's.

Thanks!

Ok, thanks. I guess I got a little confused when I didn't see VS 2005 as a
choice in the drop-down list for "Application Residency".

the PLKs are the same between VS 2003 and VS 2005.

so even if you target only VS 2005 the PLK generated on the site is just
fine.
