Hello Jan,
It seems you want to know if MPF could make your current package simpler,
correct? If I misunderstood anything here, please correct me.
However, I'm not sure about your business requirement. Could you give us
some detailed information about your project?
Thereby, we can perform research, and post back some useful information.
Thanks. If you have any more concern, please feel free to let us know. We
are glad to assist you.
Have a great day,
Best regards,
Wen Yuan

Note: The MSDN Managed Newsgroup support offering is for non-urgent issues
where an initial response from the community or a Microsoft Support
Engineer within 1 business day is acceptable. Please note that each follow
up response may take approximately 2 business days as the support
professional working with you may need further investigation to reach the
most efficient resolution. The offering is not appropriate for situations
that require urgent, real-time or phone-based interactions or complex
project analysis and dump analysis issues. Issues of this nature are best
handled working with a dedicated Microsoft Support Engineer by contacting
Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS) at

there is no hard business requirement. I just would like to understand MPF
and how it differs from a hand crafted project package. The way the
documentation is currently laid out, it explains some details of each member
function, but does not explain which classes I have to implement or derive
from, which member functions I should override and which functions I can use.
At this moment I have decided NOT to use MPF as it takes too much time to
get to understand it and I am not even sure if it would solve the few minor
problems I have. If you have pointers to better documentation or samples I
would like to get t hat.
Regards,
Jan

Hello Jan,
Thanks for your reply.
After performing research, I notice there are two series webcast on MSDN
website about how to build package using MPF. This webcast walks you
through building a package that integrates with several services in VS,
starting with a blank project and culminating with running code. This seems
like a good resource for us to start leaning MPF.
MSDN Webcast: Visual Studio 2005 Extensibility (Part 1 of 2): Building a
Package Using the managed package framework (Level 200)
Presenter: Allen Denver, Development Lead, Microsoft Corporation
http://search.techrepublic.com.com/search/managed+package+framework.html
Hope this helps.
Best regards,
Wen Yuan

Hello Wen,
thanks for your comments. I will certainly look into that webcast, but the
next couple of days I am busy on other things.
