Thanks however this seems to all point to visual studio and not visual
studio .net
All the samples refer to C++ and not C# too.

There is VSIP for VS.NET 2003 and VS 2005 SDK for VS 2005. The docs for VSIP
are available only downloading VSIP.
VSIP was heavily C++ oriented but with VSIP Extras you could use a managed
language (C#, VB.NET).
The samples may be in C++, but you can see the techniques and translate the
code to C#.
