Hello all,

I have a webform which calls a class that loads an XML from a URL then saves
it to a file. I ran the webform from Visual Studio. It ran correctly and
creates the XML file, however when I try to open the XML file using notepad
i get the following error

"The process cannot access the file  because it is being used by another
process."

Is there something i'm missing?

Thanks

A

Did you stop your application from running?

I think Visual Studio locks this file while in debug mode.

The aspx page itself does not have debug mode on and I am viewing the
webform using "View in Browser" from Visual Studio.

Where are you storing this file in relation to the website?  Can you post
the code that writes the xml file?

You could simply shut down the VS.NET and start it again. it will work. it
happens when the XML file is open in the editor and then after a change
thru' the webform, it gets locked in the VS.NET. simply restart the vs.net
and don't open the xml file thru' the vs.net, instead open it in textpad or
notepad.
