I was wondering: we have a platform that will need to be compatible with
future versions of the platform. We are planning on using WSE 2, but is it
guaranteed to be compatible with future versions or will it be dropped when
indigo comes out? Is it compatible with indigo?

WSE 3.0 is planned so I think wse still has some legs for some time even
after Indigo.
Also, I think Indigo is an abstraction on top of wse (put is not tied to wse
from an api standpoint) to leverage the ws-* stuff.

The Web Services Enhancements Roadmap (up to and including Indigo) was
showcased at the Building Connected Systems Today Roadshow.
The presentation is available here:
http://www.technorthprepcenter.org/_site_components/downloads/13.ppt
(not an MS resource, but I compared the content with my paper copy I
received at the event, and it's the same)
You'll want to look at the slide that is titled "Web Services Enhancements -
Notes", way down in the deck.
