The WSE 3.0 documentation references a CustomXmlSecurityToken "QuickStart
Samples" sample, which is not to befound?

Would it be the same as the one with WSE 2.0 (assuming the sample is
included with 2.0), or is there another way?

I want to upgrade to WSE3 but need to convince my frightened bosses.

I am only using SecurityTokens UsernameTokens - dont use SAML or
certificates (SSL aside).

Are there any fundemental reasons [to | not to] upgrade - considering my app
is working perfectly ?

Will i also have to upgrade to .Net 2 ?

Are there any performance benefits ?

Are there any notable api changes in these areas of the WSE sdk ?

Thx for any comments/insights

I'm not sure why you are posting this as a reply to my initial question -
suppose it's a mistake.

But regarding your question.  Yes, you will have to upgrade to .NET 2.0 to
use WSE 3.0.  And the API have changed and the WS-Policy and
WS-SecurityPolicy is gone, and you now have a mich simpler configuration of
so-called turn-key assertions.  But they are MS proprietary, so no policy
exchange (which I bet you never did in real life anyway?)

Performance benefits I haven't heard of, unless you are thinking of
developer performance, which is much better with WSE 3.0

I am new to wse and would like to use custom credentials as well. Very
simple concept: Username, Password, AccountID. Account ID is optional
in some services (i,e, ClientManager.GetManagedAccountList) but
required for others (AccountService.UpdateAccount). How can I do this
in WSE ? I'm confused as to when I need to write custom security
assertions vs. custom tokens. Can I add anything to the usernametoken
or do I start from scratch ?

One thing will be hampering you: In WSE3.0 the SoapContext.Security member
will be become obsolete, so WSE2.0 samples might not work!
