Hello Jay,
Which version of Windows XP are you using - Pro, Home or 2003 Server,
please let me know. Also let me know what exactly you did as part of
"setting the security code accordingly". usually, if the Browser Control is
working fine on Win 2000, with the default security settings it should also
be running on an XP box.
Also, some FAQ's about J# Browser Controls are available at
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vjsharp/downloads/browsercontrolsbeta/default.aspx
. Just in case you have not browsed the same this might be of help.
If you still face the problem please let me know the answers to the above
questions. I would be glad to help you out,
Thanks

Gaurav,
I am using Windows XP Home Edition. It's a brand new installation and I
have all the updates installed from the Windows Update site. As for the
security settings, I set the Browser Control Security to "On any Web site
(not recommended)". My office has 2 Windows 2000 machines and J# Browser
Controls does not work on either one except my Win2000 laptop. It is on my
laptop that I have Visual J# installed. Does that make a difference?? I
wouldn't think it would.

Please double check that your client computers have all these redists
intalled:
1. .net framework redist 1.1
2. J# redist 1.1
3. J# Browser Controls
All three must be installed on the clients.

Yes I have installed all three items exactly in that order too.
When connected to the web my laptop gets the applet with no problem, but
with my desktop computer get nothing. Here is the link of the J# Browser
Control if you want to give it a try.

Try to reload (ctrl + F5) the page on your dev laptop. =:o)
I get two errors when I try to open the page:
Error:
Line: 1 Syntax Error (first line)
Line 43 Error: Object Expected (last line)
Try to comment in the browser control.
<!-- you have placed your browser control here -->
The control could be running from your IE cache on your dev computer.

Ctrl + F5 works but the Applet/Browser Control still works perfectly. It
even runs in IIS without any hitch.
I cleaned out the cache and it still runs fine. I too get those errors on
the WinXP machine and the Win2000 desktop, but no errors on the laptop.
What's next?

Could you please upload the "test.html" (attachment in previous reply) file
to your server?
If we get a white box with a red X, this tells us the framework is not
installed. A gray box tells us it's running.
Do you access any local "C:\..." statements in the browser control?

Okay I did it. On both the XP machine and the Win2000 desktop machine there
is a gray box displayed. On the laptop the applet runs completely.

Yes it is working. There is a gray box on the Win2000 desktop machine and
the XP machine. The program is running completely on the Win2000 laptop. As
for anything accessing the "C:\" drive there is nothing.

I get "Unable to load http://www.bcn.net/~jccanale/EMF/EMF.dll"
The J# Browser Control is running, but it can't load the dll. Any security
permissions on the filesystem?

Okay, now that it is working here is another funny thing.
I copied all the files from the web onto my Win2000 desktop. I
double-clicked the EMF2.html file and it loaded the applet and ran
perfectly. I then tried the same thing with my Win2000 laptop and all that
appears is the grey box. The same with the XP machine. Can J# Browser
Controls be run this way?
