I'm installing Blackberry Desktop software 4.2 sp2 on windows Vista on
several machines. For some reason the install program takes ages, up to an
hour, and for long periods it seems that nothing is happening. Does anyone
else have this problem and know why it takes so long. No other program has
this issue, and i've downloaded the install files several times.

Unfortunatley I never got to the bottom of it...lots of people are having the
same issues, but RIM don't seem to be addressing it, or will in the next
service pack. I tried a bit of lateral thinking and made it less painfull by
doing several installations at once.

If anyone ever finds a solution to this problem, I would love to
know...working on one computer installing DS V4.2 SP2 and it takes 1/2 hour
minimum per install (some fool decided he would try removing the blackberry
installed standard modem to switch com ports in a tethered modem setup and
had to uninstall and reinstall)...so I have spent 1 and 1/2 hours watching
Vista do nothing! AHHHHHHHH!
I would be curious if the other were working with Vista Basic...

I was just wondering... I just bought a blackberry and when trying to install
the software it gives me some internal error and won't let me install it on
my computer... I was wondering if it is just because windows vista is not
compatible or???? I know nothing about computers and I am so confused... This
is really frustrating!!!
any help would be greatly appreciated!!

It is a matter of registering vbscript.dll. Just had the same problem
and found the solution

nfiner - thank you for your instructions...
Desktop Manager seems to be working fine with media manager but I cannot
sync my BB Curve with the Destop Manager because when I choose the sync
details, such as what program to sync contact with (Outlook) I get a
"runtime error" stating, "Cannot find system in table file."
Any idea what that means?
I've had my Curve for about 5 months and have yet to be able to sync with my
computer running Vista. Any help anyone is willing offer is greatly
appreciated.

I just purchased a Blackberry Curve 8310 and trying to sync with Windows
Calendar. Vista's updated version of Outlook Express. AT&T Tech rep stated
that Blackberry still has some issues working completely with VISTA.
Blackberry software version 4.3 in Beta stages now and will hope to resolve
some of the issues. Outlook is what the software is looking for. YOu have it
in Vista but in a different way -Windows Mail/Calendar. So Blackberry still
not recognizing it that way. So if you are in the same boat as me, this may
help with an explanation from my experiences today on Feb 2, 2007 at 2:30 pm

That worked for me. Slam it a few times and all is well.

I just installed version 4.3. I found someone at RIM that knew what they were
talking about. You have to turn off the User Account Settings in Vista. Once
I did that it worked great. I wish there was a workaround so I could keep it
on.

Interesting. But could you explain which settings you turned off please. I
have had a look at my own and am not certain which of them you must have
'turned off'?
Thanks,
Bruce

Did you ever get this to install? I just bought the Blackberry Curve and get
the error message:Error2730. Could not access VBScript run tme for custom
action. I went to the online "chat" and they gave me a command code to try
and that told me the syntax was incorrect, even though I copied right from
the error page they sent me to.

I tried a number of times to install - once I get the error message the whole
thing closes down. What is interesting is that on my other computer we are
running XP and it loaded with no problem.
